The Windmills in Mykonos is just a small example of the uniqueness of this very special Greek island. We were here on November 1, 2006, celebrating our 48th wedding anniversary. A memorable sunset dinner was enjoyed at water's edge where we indulged in a variety of delectable Greek fare, including authentic Baklava.
Jewelry shopping at it's absolute best, that is, if gold is your desire. Greeks are extremely friendly, and most helpful when asked, particularly the merchants selling gold jewelry. Just ask my wife, Margaret. She couldn't say no!
The quaintness explodes in the residential section, which is intertwined with the interesting shops, complete with the narrow, winding walkways (no room for cars). Since the homes are contained within the interior of the town, landscape is scattered with many colors of beauty, and some very unusual looking tree trunks that spiral in shape.
Bright white painted stucco structures with some blue and some red domed roofs are truly unforgettable. Any visit to Mykonos would be incomplete without an encounter with Gus the Pelican, special Ambassador (and Mayor) for the island. Say hello to Gus below. It will make him feel better.
